CONCURRENT RN-BSN

Blood Pressure Check

Complete a BSN while enrolled in an ADN/ASN program

1st semester or 4th semester start

Why?

The concurrent track was created to help eliminate some of the barriers to achieve a BSN. This allows students to earn an ADN/ASN and a BSN simultaneously. Students will receive diplomas from both their community college and Auburn University. 

When?

You must be officially admitted to an approved ADN/ASN program.

  • 1st semester start Completion of all 56 hours of required courses must be accomplished to enroll during the 1st semester of ADN/ASN program.

  • 4th semester start Completion of all 56 hours of required courses must be accomplished by the end of 3rd semester in ADN/ASN program to enroll in the 4th semester.

How?

Eligibility is determined by completion of 56 hours of required general education courses with a C or better and minimum of 2.5 GPA. Courses can be completed at a community college or other accredited institution.

Where?

All AU classes are asynchronous and 100% online. Auburn University College of Nursing has partnered with Southern Union State Community College, Calhoun Community College, Coastal Alabama Community College, Jefferson State Community College and Lawson State Community College.

PRE-REQUISITE COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Students must complete the all of the  following general education courses with a C or better to be considered eligible for the concurrent pathway:

First Semester Start 

Concurrent RN-BSN

Who can apply

This track is for students who have completed the required 56 hours of pre-requisites and have been officially admitted to an ADN/ASN program. You should contact the program advisor early to ensure a smooth transition into the concurrent program.

Start semester

You must be officially admitted to an approved ADN/ASN program.

  • Completion of all 56 hours of required courses must be accomplished to enroll during the 1st semester of ADN/ASN program.

  • Students will take classes at both institutions for five semesters and will take the final two Auburn classes their sixth semester.

How to apply

If you have never attended Auburn University, apply online through the admissions portal.

If you have previously attended Auburn University, contact program advisor for a readmission form.

Where are classes

All AU classes are asynchronous and 100% online. Auburn University College of Nursing has partnered with Southern Union State Community College, Calhoun Community College, Coastal Alabama Community College, Jefferson State Community College and Lawson State Community College.

Concurrent students must comply with all academic and clinical requirements of their ADN/ASN program to remain enrolled in the concurrent RN-BSN program. Students will have academic advisors at each institution to ensure success in both programs. 

 

Financial Aid is also available to concurrent students at both institutions if all federal and state policies have been followed.   

mid-semester start

Fourth Semester Start 

Mid-Program Concurrent RN-BSN

Who can apply

This track is for students who have completed the required 56 hours of pre-requisites by the end of the third semester in an ADN/ASN program. You should contact the program advisor early to ensure a smooth transition into the concurrent program.

Start semester

You must be currently enrolled in an approved ADN/ASN program.

  • The 4th semester start is designed for students who had outstanding pre-reqs when they began their ADN/ASN program. The 4th semester start allows for students to complete those remaining classes over the first three semesters in their ADN/ASN program.

If you have never attended Auburn University, apply online through the admissions portal.

If you have previously attended Auburn University, contact program advisor for a readmission form.
